Srinagar, Aug 22 (KNO): Peoples Conference President Sajad Gani Lone on Saturday said the 6.8% hike in electricity tariff is definitely a shock for those who were promised 200 units of free electricity. In a post on X, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO),Lone said the regulator has approved a 6.83% hike and claimed it has avoided tariff shock, but for the common consumer in Jammu and Kashmir, who was promised free power in 2024, it is a shock. He said almost two years have passed since the Assembly elections, yet not a single rupee worth of benefit on account of 200 units free power has been passed to consumers. Lone further said that apart from failing to deliver on the free power promise, the government has increased load in non-metered areas, pushing up monthly bills—(KNO)
